Supernatural Persons Case File
Subject No: 274
Aliases: Náápi (The Old Man), Aapí’si (Coyote), Kinakakahtis (The Deciever)
Description: Olive skinned, male, bald. Wears a coyote skin as a cloak/hood.
Origin: Has appeared as a figure in oral histories of indigenous peoples for generations under different names, making it near impossible to pinpoint age of subject. Many histories point to the subject being present and even responsible for creation itself (see Blackfoot Creation Story). The Old Man made themself known to authorities first in 1950, during construction of the Interprovincial Pipeline in Alberta (see Notable Incidents).
Motives: Relatively unpredictable, known sometimes to even be playful or a ‘prankster’. Seems to hold themself as a steward of the land, protecting it and teaching others how to live on it. The Old Man appears to hold no regard for government or laws and seems to act entirely of their own accord.
Known Supernatural Abilities: Has been known to communicate with and exert control over wildlife, and in some cases, even inorganic objects. Has an uncanny ability to persuade and deceive, to an almost mind controlling level.
Notable Incidents:
- ???? – Stole a gift from a large boulder, causing it to chase him. This was halted by a group of birds that eventually cracked the boulder in half. The boulder is still present today.
- 1950 – Construction of the International Pipeline by Imperial Oil reports sightings. Rumours of shifting landscapes and damage from wildlife delay the project.
- 1972 – The XXXXXX XXX power plant suffers complete structural failure. A note found in the rubble attached to an acid-burned fish read “cheap business demands a heavy cost, Mr. XXXXXXX”.
